The Longmont Museum’s newest hands-on exhibit, “Build: Design & Create with LEGO!,” opens Saturday, June 1. Visitors can build and race a LEGO car, tackle an architectural challenge, save the world with a wondrous invention, or explore and play as far as their imagination takes them.
“Whether you’re a seasoned LEGO enthusiast or just discovering the magic of these iconic bricks, there’s something for everyone to enjoy,” said Erik Mason, Longmont Museum director.
The exhibit will also showcase a gallery of intricate and imaginative custom LEGO creations crafted by regional artists.
“We hosted a LEGO exhibit ten years ago, and it was one of our most popular exhibits ever,” said Mason. “This felt like a great summer to bring it back a decade later, but even better, as we celebrate designing and creating our own building with the Museum expansion.”
The Museum is in the middle of a capital campaign to fund the addition of a permanent, dedicated children’s gallery and expanded feature gallery, among other improvements.
The “Build: Design & Create with LEGO!” exhibition opens Saturday, June 1 and runs through January 12, 2025. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for students, seniors and veterans. Longmont Museum members and children age 3 and under are free. Admission is only 25 cents with a qualifying Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) card, and the second Saturday of each month is free.
Exhibit Opening Reception: Saturday, June 1, 10 am – 1 pm; $8 adults, $5 students/seniors, free for Museum members
Be the first to see the new exhibit and join the Museum for a celebratory opening reception featuring club members from local LEGO User Groups, larger-than-life LEGO characters in costume and LEGO cartoons in the Museum’s Stewart Auditorium. Tickets can be purchased online at longmontmuseum.org or by calling 303-651-8374.
