On Tuesday morning, Congresswoman Yadira Caraveo, MD (CO-08) announced that the City of Greeley will receive $3,508,404 from the Federal Transit Administration to buy compressed natural gas (CNG) buses for use on a new bus route between Greeley and Loveland. Funding for the new transit investment comes from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
“This exciting investment will finally connect the people of Greeley and Loveland with a brand new transit route using American-made, zero-emission buses,” said Rep. Caraveo. “This isn’t just good news for commuters; it’s good news for our communities and local economies, which will soon become more connected than ever.”
“Today, 117 communities, including Greeley, are receiving the good news that their transit buses are being modernized and their commutes improved through President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. “The Biden-Harris Administration is helping agencies across 47 states replace old buses running on dirty, expensive fuels by delivering modern and zero-emission buses, manufactured by American workers, that will connect more people to where they need to go.”
“Thanks to the USDOT for awarding $3.5 million in FY24 Low and No Emission Grant Program funding for the Greeley Evans Transit to acquire five new CNG buses to begin premium transit service on US-34 from Greeley to Loveland,” said Greeley Mayor John Gates. “This will improve traffic safety and mobility in our fast growing communities and North Front Range Region. These funds will reduce congestion and deliver improvements to regional air quality and equity goals. This funding will bring needed improvements to regional connectivity along US Highway 34 and we appreciate the continued support of our federal, state and local elected officials in securing important funds like these for the benefit of our residents.”
Securing this funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is the latest in a series of actions by Caraveo that will improve the roads, infrastructure, and air quality on the Front Range and in Northern Colorado.
